Who we are

Worldmassageforum.com is a global operation. Worldmassageforum.com is owned and operated by ProToucher International AB, a Swedish company. Our concept is Swedish and we are headquartered in Sweden. We have more than 40 years of extensive experience of massage and bodybased therapies. More than 200 years ago, Per-Henrik Ling created Swedish massage. At worldmassageforum.com we are dedicated to safeguarding his long tradition and to spread the benefits of massage and touch all around the world. The team building the site are right now involved in implementing this mission. The founders and financiers are:

• Axelsons Institute, Sweden. One of Europe’s oldest and largest schools for bodybased therapies. The institute was founded in 1962 and has a current enrolment of 7.000 students per year. The school is known as, “The home of Swedish massage”. There are also facilities in Norway, Denmark, Finland and Japan – www.axelsons.se
• Massage & Kroppsvård, Sweden. The largest massage and bodybased therapy-publication in Scandinavia. The publication has been in print since 1992 – www.mok.se

The website team consists of researchers, editors and marketing managers as well as engineering specialists. Of course, massage therapists, chiropractors and physical therapists are also included in the group. The work began in the spring of 2005 and included marketing analyses, fact-finding, global networking, video recording, editorial work and technical development of the site. In March 2007 the site was launched.

How it started

At a social gathering some years ago, the host’s daughter showed a video sequence on a computer that she had recorded on her mobile telephone. The video showed her father getting a massage. The quality of the video was not very good but it was good enough to arouse an idea among some of us who were guests at the party. If a ten year old can record a video, then anyone can. This means that all of us working in the area of body based therapies worldwide can showcase what we do with the help of video. This will create many opportunities to make new contacts, to spread knowledge and inspiration and more importantly, to expand an already booming market.

Experience and vision

Ever since that time we have been working to build worldmassageforum.com, a global, video based virtual community. As the originators we collectively have extensive experience in the fields of massage and bodybased therapy and have worked around the world since 1962. We have tried hundreds of various treatment methods and have come to know teachers, companies, visionaries, researchers, decision makers and therapists in more than 20 countries. All of these professionals have the experience and knowledge required to start building the bridges between bodybased therapists throughout the world. By creating a common platform on which to operate we can open an entirely new market with unimaginable possibilities. The knowledge and development potential is as large as you want it to be – both for therapists, educators and suppliers.
